School Based Mental Health
At KJH, we are proud to offer on-site Mental Health Counseling and Prevention Services. If you think your child could benefit from counseling services beyond what the school counselor is able to provide, please contact your child's counselor or our School Based Mental Health Services.
Students typically meet with a school based therapist here at school for one hour per week, but sometimes more or less often based on student need. Office-based services are also available for students and families that would prefer services that take place outside of the school day. Counselors work with students on a variety of issues including, but not limited to:
Our school based therapists work with students to teach and practice coping skills, provide psycho-education about mental health, provide cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing.

- Anxiety, excessive worry, or perfectionism
- Obsessive Compulsive behaviors or thoughts
- Suicidal or homicidal thoughts
- ADHD, concentration and motivation
- Self-esteem
- Social or behavioral issues
- Difficulty coping with a major life change (divorce, loss of a loved one, etc.)
- Difficulty coping with trauma

Beyond the Classroom
In the Kings School District, we also work with our school based mental health partner to provide Prevention and Educational Groups to our students. We offer groups based on student need. Some examples of groups we have offered in the past are below.
